The state of the World | Faith (part 1)

Praised be Jesus Christ, our only Savior!

If one wants to really recover from illness – a thorough diagnosis is a key.

If one wants to know the truth, he or she has to face the reality.

Let us then, like grown-ups, face the reality, and try to describe the state of faith in today’s world.

Of course, let us not even try to lie to ourselves, that we are able to describe it completely and fully. That is impossible. The only one who can do it… God. What we can do however is, each of us, try to grasp, at least to some extent, the state of faith around us, in our little worlds.

I think we can all agree, that in today’s world, not even more than ever, because the devil does his “best” in all times, but especially today, he uses the most sophisticated and brought to “perfection” tools to do everything he can to keep us away from reality, keep us away from the truth…

By distorting or hiding both, whether it is via lies, half “truths” (half-truth still is one lie), understatements, misrepresentations, illusions or even “dreams”, the devil does this all for just one purpose: for us to never find out the Truth, that is Our Lord and only savior, Jesus Christ.

Although I wish I could state different, I cannot be not honest with You my dear brothers and sisters, but as I am in my thirties, apart from my beloved grandma and wife, I have to, unfortunately, admit, that in my life so far, I have met only a few (please forgive me this expression) real… Catholic, and most of them I even haven’t met in person.

Of course, in my beautiful hometown, there are many, truly devoted priests, there are those wonderful old women, who each day pray for all of us, especially those who make laugh of and offend them, there are these few young families that come to the church with their children, there are also several teenagers and a couple of old men that came back to God in the autumn of their lives, but among my circle of friends, I literally do not have a true Catholic friend, especially a man, who would take his faith and his responsibilities with seriousness and that would live, at least, a decent Catholic life…

Ah, and I almost forgot, of course, about my beloved daughter, who, please dear God, let Her remain so faithful, and become a true and beautiful Catholic woman one day…

But, that is really it…

Let us assume, that through those thirty-something years, I met around 1000 people.

Thanks to the talents that Our Lord gave me, I had an opportunity to meet people from almost all groups of today’s society.

I met politicians, academics, lawyers, actors, musicians, journalists, workers of small businesses and big corporations, factories, and big malls, farmers, pensioners, social workers, unemployed, prisoners, military, teachers, students, pupils, nuns, and priests etc.

Only few one of all of these people, well, less than 10 were… conscious ergo real Catholic.

So 1 in 100.

There are almost 40 million Poles. 40 million divided by 100 is 400 000.

This is strange then, because, almost 90%, so let us say approximately 36 million Poles, declare themselves as Roman Catholics.

So being optimistic, we have 0.5 million vs supposed 36 million…

Of course, I may be “unlucky” or I may even and for sure be not liked by many, but even if so, the figure wouldn’t change much.

It all makes sense because there are around 40 000 citizens in my hometown and in all of the churches on Sundays I presume around half a thousand citizens attend masses regularly…

Isn’t that very sad?

And we are talking about Poland here, a country that is described as… catholic.

How many followed Our Lord when he walked this Earth?

How many after He conquered death?

One percent? Ten?

I don’t know… perhaps there are some researches done based on some historical documents or for example the Acts of the Apostles, but I haven’t had a chance yet to read these…

Well… at least for sure, we know that 11 of 12 of the ones He chose, followed his teachings till their very end…

10 gave their lives for Him…

One, Saint John, lived to die his own death…

One, Judas, betrayed Him…

The Apostles, of course, were not laity, they were the clergy of that times..

We also all are aware of the crisis in Our Saint Mother Church. We all probably would agree that it is no longer 11 in 12 that remain faithful to Our Lord, but unfortunately less…

Poland is still considered, and rightly so, one of the last fortresses of the Catholic faith, but that 10% that I was talking about doesn’t really apply to other countries… it is way lower especially in western Europe, that is sinful more than ever it seems…

Wouldn’t we agree?

Summing it all up, let us say… that… hmm… some, let us say 8.3 % of all remain real Catholics…

Of course, it is very highly assumptive, and we shouldn’t be basing anything on “such” mathematics, but let us do it just to “grasp” the state of things… to face… the reality, just a bit…

Are You OK with that? You probably are…

Let us realize than one thing now…

Eleven Apostles made 91.7 % of twelve.

100 % – 91.7 % makes…

… 8.3 %…

Yes, we are talking about Judas here…

Judas made that 8.3 %…

When I was young, I thought that there are no bad people… well, alright, that there are maybe very few… but that was when I was a kid.

I am a grown-up man, and I know that there are bad people.

However, today’s world tells us that we all are good… that there is no good or evil, and even that the devil himself will one day go to heaven… that all of us will go to heaven!

Well, OK, not all…

There are of course those horrible fascists, especially in Poland, and those monstrous Muslim terrorists, and yeah, let us not forget about these disgusting Anti-Semites that spring up like mushrooms lately…

I consider myself an unworthy sinner. So add me, too.

But where is all the rest?!

Or perhaps, the reality is the opposite and nowadays the percentage of the remaining faithful is the percentage that Judas once was…

Of course, there are no 100% bad or 100% good people. Everyone can be saved. As Catholics, we are to be against sin, not people.

But that percentage, even if it less dramatic in reality, only shows us, how greatly we must, not even look up to, but be like…

…Apostles these days…

Dear God, oh please never let me become lazy, and lie to myself turning away from the reality, thinking that everything is “fine” and there is nothing left to cure, fight for… especially the Truth, which is You…

God bless You all!

PS:

For those who have a tendency to seek the “truth” in numbers, please do not seek it in numbers like that 8.3 %, but… God.

Don’t be like these unfortunate millions of “Christians” or “Catholics” that read horoscopes.

Be a true one!
